Welcome
Let
Antietam Guest House be the headquarters for your visit to Antietam National
Battlefield which is one mile away. The Antietam House was the home of a C&O Canal boatman, Benjamin Bender, and
his family after the Civil War. Bender was a Civil War veteran serving in the Potomac Home Brigade.
Today, this small historic house, one block off Sharpsburg's
Main Street, offers non-smoking, quiet, comfortable, and private lodging,
with off-street parking, for up to six guests. A full kitchen, 1 1/2
baths, a gathering room, a porch, a deck, and a large backyard are yours
to enjoy.
You will be within a few miles of the Potomac River
and the Antietam Creek for boating and fishing. The house is 1.7 miles from Snyder's Landing on the C&O Canal Towpath. The surrounding area has
many attractions and activities for history buffs, bicyclists, hikers,
and shoppers of bargains and antiques. You will find special events and
fine dining in Sharpsburg, Hagerstown, and Shepherdstown, WV.
