Nearby Attractions of the Antietam National Battlefield
A National Park Service Visitor Center, the Dunker Church, an Observation
Tower and the Sunken Road (Bloody Lane) are located near the center
of the Antietam National Battlefield on the east side of Md. 65 (Sharpsburg
Pike) about a mile northeast of the Antietam Guest House.
The North Woods, West Woods, East Woods and The Cornfield are about
a mile north of the Antietam National Battlefield Visitor Center .
The Antietam National Cemetery is on Md. 34 about four blocks southeast
of the Antietam Guest House.
Burnside Bridge is on Burnside Bridge Road about two miles southeast
of the Antietam Guest House near the south end of the 3,200-acre Antietam
National Battlefield.
The Pry House headquarters of Union Gen. George B. McClellan is on
the north side of Md. 34 (Boonsboro Pike) about three miles east of
the Antietam Guest House. McClellan's headquarters currently houses the National
Museum of Civil War Medicine's Pry House Field Hospital Museum.
The site of Confederate Civil War General Robert E. Lee's former headquarters
is marked by a plaque in a small wooded park on the north side of Md.
34 (Shepherdstown Pike) a half mile west of Sharpsburg.
