Appalachian Trail follows the eastern boundary of Washington County
atop the South Mountain range just east of Md. 67 about seven miles
east of the Antietam Guest House.
Devil's Backbone County Park is on the north side of Md. 68 about
six miles northeast of the Antietam Guest House.
Gathland State Park, home of the George Alfred Townsend Museum and
the War Correspondents Arch, sits atop South Mountain near Md. 67 about
seven miles southeast of the Antietam Guest House.
Greenbrier State Park features a 42-acre lake near U.S. 40 about eight
miles northeast of the Antietam Guest House
South Mountain State Battlefield features Crampton's Gap, Fox's Gap,
Lamb's Knoll and Turner's Gap, and stretches for seven miles along the
top of South Mountain near Md. 67 some seven miles east of the Antietam Guest
House.
South Mountain State Park may be reached from Md. 67 six miles east
of the Antietam Guest House. The park extends for about 25 miles along South
Mountain and the eastern border of Washington County from Pennsylvania
to West Virginia .
Washington County Rural Heritage Museum is on the east side of Md.
65 about three miles north of the Antietam Guest House.
Washington Monument State Park sits atop South Mountain near Alternate
U.S. 40 just east of Boonsboro and about eight miles northeast of the
Antietam Guest House.
